How to Install the L Squared application for windows. Bonus: How to have L Squared application open upon windows startup.

Installing The L Squared Application

 

  1. Download Application from L Squared Hub – User > Support Center > Technical Support

  1. Click on the “Unblock” button/checkbox on the zip file’s properties.
  2. Unzip the downloaded file.
    1. Contents will be unzipped into a folder with name “LSquared-ESlide-x.x.xx”
  3. Create the folder C: \lsquared
  4. Copy the contents of the unzipped folder (LSquared-Eslide-x.x.xx) to C: \lsquared


    To open the L Squared application. Click on Slide > L Squared Slide. If you would like the application to constantly be running, it would be best to open "SlideWatcher" in the Watcher folder instead. Feel free to definitely reach out to L Squared support team at "Support@lsquared.com" for assistance. 

Bonus: How to have L Squared application open upon windows startup.

  1. The L Squared solution consists of two main applications, LSquaredSlide and SlideWatcher
    1. LSquaredSlide is the main program which is used to display digital signage content/media.
    2. SlideWatcher is a watchdog program that monitors the LSquaredSlide application and restarts the application upon reboot or after a period of inactivity.
  2. Open the Watcher subfolder.
  3. Create a shortcut for the SlideWatcher application
  4. Copy the shortcut to the Startup folder.
    1. This will automatically run the SlideWatcher upon startup.
    2. Startup folder can be found by using the Run command and then typing shell:startup

 

 

5. Enable Autologin on Windows 10.
    1. Open “Run” dialog box again with the shortcut [Windows] + [R] and enter “netplwiz”.
    2. The “User accounts” menu will open. Uncheck the box beside “Users must enter a username and password to use this computer”. Click apply and then Ok.

    6. Restart the computer and it should automatically run the LSquaredSlide application.
    1. If prompted, allow access to the application

    7. Note the Device ID shown in the Device Registration field.
    1. This is the MAC address of the new media player and will be needed in the device setup. Please reach out to the L Squared support team with the device ID to register it onto the L Squared Hub.
